Soloof House Energy Solution (SHES) for Housing Cooperatives

  • Do you want your cooperative members to be able to purchase electricity directly from their building’s roof at a low cost?
  • You have already installed a photovoltaic system but lack a solution for distributing the generated power among different tenants?

Then the SHES is your solution. The SHES offers housing cooperatives a safe, efficient, and communal solution for electricity supply. With a SHES system, clean solar power is distributed directly to the members – legally secure, transparent, and available for shared use.

⚙️ System Setup

The setup is outlined in the image above:

  • A photovoltaic system is located on the roof. Its dimensions are determined solely by the roof’s size, not by the potential consumption of individual tenants.
  • A central control unit directs the electricity either to the households or charges a battery.
  • Each household has its own electricity meter and an inverter which converts the direct current from the rooftop system into alternating current. All inverters have the same size.
  • The inverter ensures that no electricity flows from the grid towards the battery and also that no more electricity flows than the household is currently consuming. This so-called zero feed-in legally ensures that the system operates completely independently of the public power grid.
  • The electricity meter is MID-compliant. Its readings are therefore recognized as calibrated by the tax office. Legally, the system operator sells the commodity of electricity to the tenant. Consequently, the taxes for the sale of electricity apply. We offer the service of handling the accounting for both the tax office and the tenant.
  • You have the choice of whether you wish to own, build, or operate the system yourself.

📈 Benefits for the Cooperative

  • Shared Benefit: The solar power is available to all members on an equal basis.
  • Planning Reliability: Long-term stable energy costs for the entire cooperative.
  • Future-Proof: Flexible expansion with storage or e‑charging infrastructure is possible at any time.

Benefits for Cooperative Members

  • Low Electricity Price: Direct purchase of solar power without grid fees and market fluctuations.
  • Freedom of Choice: The existing electricity supply contract is maintained. Everyone can continue to buy electricity from the supplier of their choice. No tenant is obligated to participate in the SHES.
  • Transparency: Each household can see the availability of electricity from the roof and adjust their consumption behavior accordingly.
  • Sustainability: Everyone can contribute to a better climate.

💡 Conclusions

With the SHES, the housing cooperative becomes an energy network. All members benefit from affordable, sustainable electricity, while the cooperative as a whole enhances its ecological and economic strength.
